Dirk's parents had just left, feeling very exhausted and Dirk being sick, we still needed a date night. Singapore is a rock'in city at night, many lights, people everywhere, so many things to do... despite that most things do not open until 11AM and no one really wakes up early to do much but work or exercise. It really is a night time city! Dirk's parents quickly found that out when most tours didn't start until 9AM and usually they were the first and only ones there.
Well we decided to head down to Marina Bay to ride the Singapore Flyer and check out the new casino. The adventure in Singapore is figuring out the public transportation, we took the MRT down to Marina Bay since many of the roads were closed due to National Day next weekend and the setting up for the F1 race as well. National Day is like our Independence Day and the F1 race is the only night time Formula One race, the course is run through the downtown streets all illuminated for the night race. Dirk went one year, neither of us went last year, I really want to go this year just for the concerts. Last year was the Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce.
So, the Singapore Flyer, it is the tallest observatory wheel in the world. I think 42 stories tall? It takes about 37 minutes to go all the way around in a tube that holds 28 people. We were lucky enough that they were practicing for National Day and got to see all the fireworks go off in Marina Bay. It was a pre celebration since we are going to miss it this weekend and go to Chiang Mai, Thailand instead.
Ok, get ready for a bunch of pictures of lights and backgrounds...

Marina Bay on the Flyer.
You can see the Fullerton Hotel, the Esplanades Theaters, and some of the Formula One race track.
